What is The Bar at the End of the Universe?
The Bar at the End of the Universe series of films are short film anthologies covering all film genres, including Horror, Western and Sci-Fi, wrapped up into a 90+ min film. Each film anthology is genre specific, comprising multiple hand picked short films by our diverse team of film reviewers.
How are the short films chosen?
- Filmmakers submit their finished shorts.
- Multiple members of our "Film Review Crew" preview the films, sharing their feedback with us.
- Based on their feedback, final selections for the anthology are chosen.
Are there any fees to apply?
NO! It's free to submit your film thru 10/31/20 (Halloween), so apply now! After Halloween there will be a nominal application fee.
Am I compensated?
YES! There is compensation in multiple forms available, whether it is a direct purchase for (non exclusive) film distribution rights, or a revenue-share model based on sales. All films chosen to to be included in the anthology are eligible for compensation.
Where will these films be available to view?
The Bar at the End of the Universe is an anthology series of imaginative and creative short films from around the world. Packaged by genre, the series will be released monthly on DVD and Digital platforms throughout the US and the World.
Can we still distribute our short elsewhere ourselves?
YES! This is a non-exclusive agreement. We are only asking to include it as part of a larger collection of films. You can still do whatever you want with it.
Are all film genres accepted? Which ones are preferred?
YES! The anthology films will include all genres, but our most popular will most likely be Horror, Westerns, and Sci-Fi films.
How long do the films have to be?
Your film can be as short at 3 minutes or as long at 45 minutes.
Once my short film is chosen, how soon will it be released?
Selection of your film is the beginning of the journey. We must select 4-8 films for each release that are similar in genre and theme, film the show wrap around and then being the sales process. This can take up to 6 months, but it will be worth the wait when your film is available to be seen around the world.
